Unlike smaller breeds many Large Breed Puppies can continue to grow until they are 18-24 months old and their rate of growth is considerable, which means their bones must change quickly and continuously.
If this happens too fast then there is an increased risk of the puppy’s bones not forming properly, resulting in conditions such as dysplasia, panosteitis, osteochondrosis (OCD) and developmental orthopaedic disease (DOD). Breeds particularly prones to these issues are German Shepherds, Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, Great Danes, Rottweilers, Dobermans & Basset Hounds.
The role of a Large Breed Puppy food is therefore to moderate the body’s growth to ensure they grow slowly and steadily, but for longer - which is why it is recommended that a Large Breed Puppy stays on their puppy food for at least 18 months (as opposed to 9-12 months for smaller breeds on regular puppy food).
Tickety Boo Large Breed Puppy therefore ensures that the ratio between calories, calcium and phosphorous is carefully controlled (ratio 1:1.5) and that your big pup's body has access to oodles of Omega 3 thanks to lots of fish and an Omega 3 supplement. In addition this recipe is completely grain free, making it ideal for puppies with digestive issues, allergies and/or soft stools.
The kibble size has been adjusted too, so it's more suitable for larger mouths (12mm x 13mm), plus there's added glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM to further support those growing joints.
Made with 60% Salmon & 40% veggies, all gently cooked at around 90oC to retain as much flavour, aroma & natural goodness as possible - ensuring your pup experiences the joy of a great tasting, great smelling, quality food at every meal!
All in all this recipe makes for a fantastic diet for any extra large bundle of puppiness, but particularly for those prone to tummy upsets.
