It's not essential that large & giant breeds have a 'large breed' dog food because their nutritional needs are very similar to their smaller counterparts. They do, however, need a sensible calorie content to prevent them gaining weight and a decent level of calcium and Omega 3 to help support their bones and joints.
More significantly, they also often need a larger kibble size.
